Brian Crowley to continue canvass in Tralee.

Fianna Fail MEP Brian Crowley is going ahead with a canvass in Tralee tomorrow in defiance of a party ban. He’s asking local activists to join him, but it’s unclear how many will. Efforts by the Fianna Fail hierarchy to split the Euro South constituency between Brian Crowley and Gerry Collins are proving unsuccessful. The National Executive decided two weeks ago that Mr Crowley shouldn’t be allowed canvass anywhere in Kerry up to polling day on June 11th. With a seat less this time, the argument put forward by the strategy committee was that a carve-up was essential if the party wants to hold their two seats. However, Brian Crowley is insisting he represents the entire constituency and has told party bosses he’s not going to be restricted.Director of Elections John O` Donoghue told Radio Kerry earlier this week that he’s received complaints from the Collins camp, but that he can’t stop somebody from visiting part of the constituency. It remains to be seen who will meet up with Brian Crowley when he arrives in Tralee tomorrow.
