Breda Moynihan Cronin announces she will not contest General Election

South Kerry Labour TD, Breda Moynihan Cronin has announced she will not contest the next General Election. Deputy Moynihan Cronin who has been Labour Party for Kerry south since 1992 has cited ill health for as her reason for stepping down. Deputy Moynihan Cronin has held many offices during her 13 years as Labour Deputy for Kerry South. She has been Party Spokesperson on Equality and Law Reform, on Social and Family Affairs and before that on tourism and recreation.She was a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Equality, Law Reform, defence and women’s rights. She was also former chairperson of the Joint Oireactas Committee on Tourism, Sport and Recreation. The daughter of the Michael Moynihan former TD for South Kerry and Minister of State at the Department of Tourism and Commerce has also been Chairperson of the Labour Party since 2003. In a statement last night she said her decision to step down was not an easy one but that the state of her health could not allow her to discharge her duties in a way she would like.
