Book of evidence being prepared in relation to €200,000 drugs seizure in Listowel


The book of evidence is being prepared in the case of a Polish man charged in connection with the seizure of €200,000 worth of cannabis at a premise in Listowel.

As part of an on-going operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs, Gardaí seized cannabis plants and cannabis herb with an estimated value of €200,000 at premises in Kilmeady, in the Kilmorna area of Listowel on January 26th.

Approximately 100 mature cannabis plants and 6.5 kilos of cannabis herb were discovered at the premises by the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit and Listowel District Drugs Unit.

42-year-old Jaroslaw Waszkiewicz was arrested and detained at Listowel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He appeared before a special sitting of Tralee District Court on January 27th charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply and cultivation.

Mr Waszkiewicz was remanded to appear before Listowel District Court on February 2nd where he received bail with conditions.

At Thursday’s (May 4th) sitting of Listowel District Court, the court heard the book of evidence is being prepared for the DPP.

Sergeant Kieran O’Connell said the book of evidence should be prepared by July 20th at the earliest.
