Bonane residents ask Council for reassessment on road.

Residents in Bonane are asking the National Roads Authority and Kerry County Council to reassess an 11 kilometer stretch of the N71 which is in need of repair. The stretch has been awarded 325,000 euro this year for work but the residents say this is not enough.Up to 130 people from the area attended a meeting on the issue last night. Locals claim that as a gateway to the county and as an important tourist route the N71 deserves a greater level of funding. Public representatives from all parties pledged support for the campaign and it was agreed to seek a meeting with director of services for transport Tom Curran and the NRA. A follow up meeting to discuss progress is to take place in a month`s time.
