Body recovered from sea at Ballybunion

A body has been recovered from the sea in Ballybunion following a search for a man who had been missing since the weekend. Shannon Helicopter The Shannon Coastguard helicopter retrieved the body from the water around midday near the Long Strand area. A search for a man in his 60s and from Limerick, who was last seen in Ballybunion around noon on Saturday, has now been stood down. The remains have been removed to the headquarters of the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue service. Also involved in the search effort were the Ballyheigue Inshore Rescue and Glenderry Coastguard. The rescue operation had resumed at first light this morning. About 30 to 40 members of the public from Limerick were also involved in the search.
