Bank of Ireland changes tactics in dispute with Farmers

Bank of Ireland is taking out newspaper ads locally telling Creditors of Tralee Beef and Lamb they won’t offer them any funds. It’s the latest attempt by the bank to get their view across in the dispute. The placing of adverts is a new tactic by Bank of Ireland to argue their case and may be influenced by upcoming TV coverage of the campaign by creditors. The agri/rural affairs programme Ear To The Ground is scheduled to report on the farmers’ actions on Thursday night.Once again, the bank says it’s the largest creditor and says it has offered to help those in difficulty. Last week, farmers occupied the Bank of Ireland branch in Castle Street for an hour. Gardai were called and the group left peacefully. Creditors say they will now close their accounts.
