A ban on bathing and swimming at Waterville Town Beach has been lifted.

However, following further water samples, the ban at Fenit beach and diving boards and at Inny Strand remain in place, along with a bathing advisory at White Strand.

Kerry County Council says with adverse weather conditions expected overnight, prior warnings remain in place at a number of locations; the public are advised to exercise caution in these areas due to the possibility of elevated bacteria in the water.

Those locations are: Ballybunnion North and South, Ballyheigue, Banna, Castlegregory, Maharabeg, Ventry, Kells and Cuas Crom.

More water samples are being taken and the suitation is under review by the local authority.
