Ballybunion environmentalist appealing to people to avoid using ‘single use’ plastic containers

A Ballybunion environmentalist is appealing to people to avoid using ‘single use’ plastic containers.

Mike Enright says there are 8 million tonnes of plastic going into our seas every year.

This is having a huge affect on marine life and our coastlines and ultimately ourselves.

Mr Enright says a seal pup compacted with plastic washed up recently, and another died before Christmas with  a crisp packet was found in his throat.
