Ballybunion developer reapplies for planning permission.

A developer that bought a site in Ballybunion for two and a half million euro has re applied for planning permission to build 72 apartments in Ballybunion after the original permission had lapsed. McCormack properties based in Derry bought the Atlantic Hotel in 1998 with permission included in the sale for the construction of apartments on the site. The property had permission to build apartments on the site when the property was sold. However the planning statute allows for construction to begin on a development within a five year period.McCormack properties had advertised the proposed development in Ballybunion of apartments over looking the beach with a price tag of up to 270,000 euro. However in November of last year the company had to re-apply to Kerry County Council for permission to build 72 apartments. Further information was requested and has been submitted by the developers to Kerry County Council. An objection has been lodged by residents in the town against the development. A decision is due from the local authority on the 17th of next month.
