The average number of people per household in Kerry is decreasing.
According to figures released by the Central Statistics Office, the average number of people per household at the time of the last census was 2.59, down on 2011’s figure.
In 2011, there were just under 141,000 (140,975) people in 53,306 households in the county.
This represents an average of 2.64 persons per household.
At the time of Census 2016, there were 141,596 people living in just under 54,400 (54,493) households, representing an average of 2.59 persons per household.
This decrease is not in line with the national trend; during the last census, the average number of people per household nationwide was 2.75, an increase on 2011’s figure.
