Audit takes place in Kerry schools.

144 national schools in the county are undergoing an audit to assess the spread of special needs teachers in Kerry which could see some schools losing resources. Preliminary results of the review shows that some schools in the country are over resourced.According to the Minister for Education Noel Dempsey certain schools are receiving more resources for special needs than they need. The reason cited for this uneven spread is that schools continue to receive resources for students who had already left that school. Nationally there is a backlog of 6,000 applications for special needs resources.
