Artwork for the new Star Wars movie, part of which was filmed in West Kerry, has been released online.

British actor John Boyega who plays Finn in the movie franchise tweeted an image featuring himself alongside fellow Star wars actors Daisy Ridley and Oscar Issac under the banner of ‘The Last Jedi’, the name of the eighth installment.

Images of official merchandise have been doing the rounds on Twitter, having been tweeted by director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson.

Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens featured key scenes shot on Skellig Mhíchíl in the summer of 2015.

Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi continues from this point and will feature footage filmed on Ceann Sibeál, on the Dingle Peninsula last summer.

The shoot was considerable and created much local employment; crew arrived on location in West Kerry last March where they constructed Beehive Huts, akin to those on the Skelligs.

A crash scene and or battle scene is among the action mooted to have been filmed at Ceann Sibeál.

Cast members included Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren and Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker, arrived in May to film scenes.

The Last Jedi, which is expected to feature the Skelligs and Ceann Sibeál, opens in cinemas later this year on December 15th.
