An application has been made to the Environmental Protection Agency to dump material dredged from Dingle Harbour.
The Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine has sought a permit under Section 5 of the Dumping at Sea Acts 1996 to 2009, to dispose of silt and gravel.

It’s for the dredging of the approach channel to Dingle Fishery Harbour Centre, and the deepening of a turning circle within the harbour, which is to take place between the 1st June 2017 and the 30th September 2018.

The application is for the disposal of a maximum of 116,000 tonnes of material at a site 2km south of Dún Síon.

The application is available to view at the EPA’s offices and website, and submissions can be made by the end of April.
