An appeal against the go ahead for a controversial North Kerry windfarm is being heard in the Commercial Court today.
Last July, An Bord Pleanala overturned a decision by Kerry County Council, and granted planning permission for the development in Ballyhorgan.
The council’s refusal was due to the proposed scale of the project, saying it would create a significant visual intrusion in the landscape.
Several protest meetings were held by locals concerned about the height of the turbines; many had threatened to sell their homes if planning was granted.
The North Kerry Wind Turbine Awareness Group has now brought An Bord Pleanala to the Commercial Court; the case began this morning before Mr Justice Brian McGovern, and is expected to continue until Friday.
