Anti mast residents need 3,000 euro for campaigne.

Residents of the Spa/Churchill area will have to raise almost €3000, if their campaign to prevent a phone mast being erected in the area is to stand a chance of success. Last month, the County Council refused planning to Meteor on the grounds that the proposed mast would contravene the County Development Plan, and have a negative visual impact. The mobile phone company then appealed this decision to an bord pleanala. ‘Amach’, a group of local residents, who had launched a community objection to Meteor’s application, has now decided to re-form. At a meeting last night, locals were told they’d have to raise €3000 for a planning engineer to make a submission to the planning board. Niall O`Loinsigh of ‘Amach’ says locals are still very much opposed to the mast.
