Angling Federation complains of policing of poachers

The Kerry Angling Federation want control of fisheries to be taken away from the South West Regional Fisheries Board. The federation has made numerous complaints about policing of poachers by The Board. The Angling Federation believes The Board cannot satisfactorily take care of all responsibilities under their remit which include promotion, protection and development.Jerome Dowling says the situation is a shambles. Meanwhile Chief Executive of The Board says they spend one million euro on the issue of poaching and they have made serious inroads in the industry. However Aidan Barry says while there is fish in the water, poaching will continue to be a problem.
