American university to buy former school in Dingle

A memorandum of understanding is being signed in Dingle this afternoon which will see the west Kerry town become a base for students of an American university. The Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut hopes to buy the former Christian Brothers’ School in the town. It’s understood that the college is to offer some of its courses from its new Dingle base. The Sacred Heart University has developed strong links with Dingle over the past decade, particularly through the An Díseart arts centre and Dingle Oceanworld. schoolbooks Last winter, 33 students from the college completed a course in Dingle in a number of subjects. The college has almost 8,000 students and offers over 50 degree programmes. It’s understood that $USD 1million is being invested by the university in the old CBS school in Dingle which has recently been the subject of renovations and upgrading. Among those at today’s signing will be representatives from the Sacred Heart University, IT Tralee and Cork Institute of Technology.
