An American university is seeking planning permission to extend its premises in Dingle.
The development is earmarked for the former CBS secondary school campus.
Sacred Heart University announced at the beginning of the year that it had bought the old CBS building on The Mall and John Street.
The continued development of the Connecticut university could be worth up to a million euro annually to the local economy.
Sacred Heart has been sending students to Dingle for around 15 years and over 300 will study in west Kerry in 2018.
The university has applied to Kerry County Council to demolish three single storey sheds and remove the external staircase, rear and front porch extensions from the main school, which is a protected structure.
The plans also include a two-storey extension, signage, revised car parking and bicycle stands and landscaping.
Kerry County Council planners will decide on the case by September 2nd.
