American fire fighters with strong Kerry roots are honoured

A fourth generation Kerry-American fire fighter has been recognised by Kerry County Council. Fire Jamieson O’Shea is a fire fighter and paramedic in Sterling, Massachusetts. He is the great grandson of Michael J Shea who left Caherciveen in 1899 when he was 22. Mr Shea later became the Chief of the Fire Department in the city of Fitchberg in Massachusetts. Jamieson and another fire fighter Shawn McKenna, who also has links to Kerry, made a presentation to the county’s fire service at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
