The AGSI says its annual conference will debate the scandals that have recently rocked An Garda Siochána.
This is despite the fact that there’s no mention on the agenda of investigations into claims by whistle-blowers, wrongful convictions for penalty points, false breathalyser data, or the root and branch review of the entire force.
The Justice Minister was due to attend the conference in Killarney today, however Frances Fitzgerald says she’s now unable due to Dáil commitments, much to the disappointment of the AGSI.
Tomorrow the spotlight will be firmly on the Garda Commissioner as Noirín O’Sullivan addresses delegates.
John Jacob, General Secretary with the AGSI says while the recent high profile issues aren’t mentioned in the conference motions, they will be up for discussion.
