Agricultural Department staff demand repayment of money due

Department of Agriculture staff who were suspended and had their wages cut during a dispute in 2003 are demanding full repayment of the money due to them. The 13 week long dispute hit department offices here in Tralee as well as in Clonakilty, Castlebar, Galway and Limerick. The Civil Public and Services Union says the staff are owed an estimated 1.5 million euro. The Department of Agriculture says it has received no formal approach from the union in the matter and will await this before progressing any further.
