Age Action Ireland has joined the campaign to retain the Kerry Flyer bus service. It follows the Government’s plan to restructure Social Economy Jobs in the county. 8 jobs will be lost on these bus routes if the plans are implemented. The subsidised service reaches areas of the county where no scheduled bus route exists. Such projects are of great benefit to elderly people in rural areas and any attempt to end the service should be resisted, according to age action. Last month the service carried 1,336 people and made 215 return journeys.
