Adapt Women’s Refuge sees an increase in women and children needing their service this year

Adapt The number of women who used the Adapt women’s refuge this year has increased by 10 percent compared to 2013. There’s also been almost a fifth of an increase in the amount of women using the centre’s Outreach and court accompaniment services. Adapt’s manager Annamarie Foley also says that there have been many occasions where the centre has been unable to accommodate those in need at the refuge. She added that so far this year 128 women and 149 children have failed to secure a place of safety. She says the support of the community is crucial to keep Adapt running especially as their funding has been cut by five percent this year: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/33276/medium/”]
