Action group to be set up to lobby for Dingle hospital

One of the organisers behind a public meeting in Dingle says they hope to set up an action committee that will lobby politicians over the lack of movement on a hospital for the town. The Southern Health Board announced last year that construction could begin in early 2005 but the project appears to have stalled. In a statement last November Minister of State at The Department of Health, Brian Lenihan confirmed there are no resources allocated to The Community Hospital in Dingle. The Department of Health says it is now considering the project for funding. Monsignor Padraig O Fiannachta says a hospital is needed now more than ever.
