60,000 people expected in Killarney for Rally Of The Lakes

Killarney is set for a 25 million euro boost this weekend as crowds of up to 60,000 people are expected for the annual Rally of the Lakes. Extra gardai, the helicopter and dog teams have been drafted in to help in the policing effort. Sergeant Ray Walsh says they are prepared for any eventuality and gardai will be very visible on the streets throughout the weekend.Examination of cars takes place from two o’clock today along the by pass route and motorists can expect some delays in this area. Rallying gets underway tomorrow where the focus will be on millstreet and gennveguilla. Sunday`s route will travel through molls gap and parts of the Ring of Kerry.
