60% increase in social houses in Kerry next year

There’ll be a 60% increase in the number of social houses completed in Kerry next year.

A total of 238 homes will be made available for people on the waiting list though houses Kerry County Council and approved housing bodies will build.

An update on Kerry County Council’s Housing Capital Construction Delivery Programme shows the local authority will complete the development of 120 social houses next year.

Six of these are single rural dwellings in mid and north Kerry.

The other 114 are in Tralee, Ardfert, Ballybunion, Rathmore, Kenmare and Lixnaw.

A further 118 homes will be developed by Approved Housing Bodies in Killarney and Tralee.

That will bring to 238 the number of houses available next year to people in Kerry on the social housing waiting list, a 60% increase on this year’s figure.

In 2021, 235 social houses are expected to be completed in Kerry.
