52 people in Kerry have been on the Live Register for more than twenty years.
Figures released by the Department of Social Protection show there were 8,126 people on the Live Register in the county at the end of January.
The Live Register reveals the number of people registering for Jobseeker’s Benefit, Jobseeker’s Allowance or for other entitlements at local offices.
The Department of Social Protection revealed to Radio Kerry that over 3,100 (3,130) people have been availing of Jobseeker’s Allowance or Jobseeker’s Benefit in Kerry for longer than twelve months.
Nearly 1,800 (1,798) have been signing on for between 1-5 years, while 680 are receiving a benefit or allowance for 5-10 years.
227 people in Kerry have been on the Live Register for 10-15 years, with 47 availing of Jobseeker’s Allowance for 15-20 years.
52 people in Kerry have been receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance for a period greater than 20 years.
