The 41 kilometre route for the natural gas main feeder pipeline from Limerick to Listowel has been confirmed.
Last October Gas Networks Ireland announced a €20 million investment which will see Listowel town connected to the existing gas network.
Work on the feeder line is due to begin early next month while construction of the local gas distribution network in Listowel town, comprising nine kilometres of gas pipelines, is scheduled for later this year.
The ‘Gas to Listowel’ project will facilitate domestic and commercial connections to customers along the route and within Listowel town.
Cathaoirleach of Listowel Municipal District Cllr Aoife Thornton says confirmation of the route may provide an opportunity for people in Moyvane to have discussions regarding the viability of tapping it off in the village:
An information evening will take place on Tuesday May 23rd in the Feale Rooms at the Listowel Arms Hotel at 6 o’clock to provide information to stakeholders and business owners – and for those interested in using natural gas in the commercial and residential sectors.
