A 20 acre site at St Finnians in Killarney could be used for affordable housing. The site is one of three properties in the county identified by The Southern Health Board as suitable for social and affordable housing. The Department Of Health was asked to examine its portfolio of lands to determine any suitable sites for affordable housing initiaves.Three sites were identified in Kerry, St Finnians, 73 Charles Ctreet in listowel and a site in Monavalley in Tralee. The initiave was started as a means of fast tracking housing projects and as a means of reaching targets set for provision of new units. Nationally the Government expects to deliver 2 and a half thousand units between now and 2006 on lands identified by this initiave.
