Almost 2,500 more people have joined waiting lists at University Hospital Kerry in the past year.

That’s according to released figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund as of the end of August.

They show there are 13,100 people on waiting lists for both inpatient and outpatient appointments at UHK.

According to the National Treatment Purchase Fund, there are now 13,100 people on waiting lists for appointments for treatment at University Hospital Kerry.

This is up 2,300 (2,467) patients or 23% in the past year, and a rise of 329 people since the end of July.

Of the numbers waiting at the end of August, 1,400 (1,385) are on inpatient and day case waiting lists at UHK, including for endoscopy; that’s up 800 (799) in the past year, a 136% increase.

The numbers, however, have fallen since the end of July, down 72 people.

A third of those currently on inpatient and day case lists, 516, are waiting up to three months, while over half, 728, are waiting between three and nine months.

The National Treatment Purchase Fund figures show there are 11,715 people seeking outpatient appointments at UHK, up over 1,600 (1,668) in the past year, and up 401 since the end of July.

A third of those, 3,522 are waiting up to six months, while 40% or 4,708, are waiting over a year for outpatient appointments.

A further 180 patients have a scheduled appointment date for inpatient or day cases.

There are also another 2,435 people on the planned procedure list at UHK – these are patients who have had treatment and require additional treatment at a future date.
