Over 23 million euro allocated to national roads in Kerry in 2017

Transport Infrastructure Ireland allocated over €23 million for national road schemes in Kerry in 2017.

Almost €19 million of this was for schemes being developed by the Kerry National Road Design Office in Castleisland.

During the year, 12 bridges on Kerry’s national road networks were refurbished including the Flesk and Inny Bridges.

Significant strengthening works were carried out on the N70 at Molls Gap in 2017 and safety works including resurfacing were carried out at the Tonevane Bends on the N86.

Elsewhere, further progress was made on three major road improvement schemes in the county in 2017 including on the N86 between Lispole and Camp with works to be completed in mid-2018.

A contract was awarded for the N70 Kilderry Bends between Miltown and Killorglin and work on that is to finish by mid-2019.

Detailed design and land acquisition for the N69 Listowel Bypass will also progress in the coming 12 months.
