18,000 compensation ito be paid to landowners along route of proposed powerline

The ongoing competition between the Kerry branches of the IFA and ICMSA over compensation for the erection of ESB poles and pylons on farmers land has sparked a frenzy among farmers in other counties. Up to 18-thousand euro will be paid to landowners along the route of the proposed powerline between Tarbert and Tralee. The project, however, has been suspended by EirGrid, the state company dealing with the issue. Limerick and Tipperary are next in line to receive the new high-voltage lines, but the situation in Kerry is being seen as the marker from which future compensation payments will be determined.
