18 Roses are preparing to take to the stage of the Dome this evening for the first televised show of this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Among the bookies’ favourites to take the title this year are the Toronto, Melbourne and London Roses.

Earlier today, Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Cllr Norma Foley hosted a civic reception for the Rose of Tralee centres at County Buildings.

Kerry Rose Celine O’Shea will be among the first 18 Roses to take to the stage with Daíthí O Sé tonight.

The west Kerry native will also interview Roses representing Abu Dhabi, Arizona, Carlow, Dublin, Florida, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois and Leitrim.

Other Roses looking to impress the judges on stage tonight will be Monaghan, New York, New Zealand, Newfoundland and Labrador, Toronto, Waterford, Westmeath and Yorkshire.

The 2018 Rose Escort of the Year, as voted by the Roses and his fellow Rose Escorts, will be announced during the programme.

Fresh from their gig on Denny Street last night, The High Kings will also perform as part of the show tonight.

More than a million television viewers are expected to tune into the Rose of Tralee over the next two nights.
