Sixteen patients are waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Kerry today, according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
Yesterday there were 14 patients on trolleys there, and there were high numbers waiting last week.
Cork University Hospital has the highest number on trolleys today at 54; University Hospital Limerick also has 31 patients on trolleys.
There’s a total of 520 people on trolleys in emergency departments and on wards in hospitals across the country today; up from yesterday’s tally of 459.
The INMO’s Liam Doran says the situation his colleagues face today is intolerable:
