There were 16 incidents recorded on level crossings between Killarney and Mallow over the past 12 months.
Iarnróid Éireann confirmed the incidents ranged from barriers being struck by a road vehicle, to persons interfering with barrier operation, to near misses with pedestrians.
Data released by Iarnróid Éireann has shown there has been 142 incidents at level crossings throughout the country since June of last year.
The Pearse to Bray line in Dublin has had 27 incidents alone meanwhile 16 incidents were recorded in the twelve-month period between Mallow and Killarney.
Vehicle recognition software has been installed at a number of sites and will be rolled out further to allow prosecutions in cases where crossing are not used properly.
Iarnród Éireann and Kerry County Council are to undertake works on the level crossing at Minish outside Killarney on the N22 Cork Road this September.
Works include raising the track through the public road and removing and reinstating the asphalt.
