155,000 euro spent on clean up of Kerry beaches

An estimated 155,000 euro has been spent to keep Kerry beaches clean this year. Most of this money has been spent during the summer months of the year due to the increase of tourists to the beaches. The amount of money spent on these clean up operations vary from year to year depending on the weather conditions.Liam Brosnan from Kerry County Council says there are 13 blue flag beaches in Kerry and part of the criteria of these blue flag beaches is that there are bins provided. He also says community groups contribute largely to the cleanliness of these beaches and he urges people to be responsible and not to litter.
