1500 homes without power following storms last month says Eircom

Storm ESB 2 1500 customers remain without power following the devastating storms that hit the county on February 12th. Eircom says on that day, 15,000 homes were without power and described it as the worst damage down to power lines in a decade. The majority of faults require network repair and replacement and this is time consuming work according to Paul Bradley, Director of Corporate Affairs with Eircom. At present, resources and 1600 staff have been moved to Kerry and other priority areas around the country in order to restore power. Affected areas include Athea, Ballybunion, Listowel, Kilmartin Cross, Lixnaw, Moyvane and Ballyheigue. Paul Bradley says because of the specialised resources needed, it could be a number of weeks before all homes in Kerry are restored.
