A 1.4 million euro day care centre is being officially opened in Tralee today. The facility is to be opened by the head of the HSE. Employing 16 people Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre for the elderly is based in Balloonagh and was established in 1988. The new centre opened its doors last April and provides a full range of care to the elderly four days a week with a view to expanding the service to five days from next month. Among the services available are personal nursing, paramedical, social and pastoral care ensuring older people can remain independent for as long as possible. Tributes have been paid to everyone who made the development possible. The facility will be officially opened this morning by Director General of the Health Service Executive Tony O’Brien.
