Road from Beaufort Bar to Joy’s Cross is closed. ROAD REOPENED: R569 Kilgarvan Kenmare Road is now open. While the worst of the rain seems to have passed flooding and excessive surface, water remains a problem across the county. Driving conditions may be poor and motorists and other road users are urged to exercise extreme caution. The severe weather warnings remain in place until later today In addition Met Eireann is predicting a further brief period of extremely severe winds this morning. This additional warning applies across Kerry.During this short period, you are advised to avoid all coastal areas, exposed and upland areas and waterways. In addition where possible all unnecessary journeys should be avoided. Weather Warning : Code Level Orange Southerly winds veering westerly, will increase for a time this morning to mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts of 100 to 120 km/h. Valid from 6:00am until 11:00am today, Wednesday, December 30th. Due to the forecasted period of high winds thus morning all of Kerry County Council’s transfer stations and civic amenity sites will remain closed .
