A fisheries expert has called for the public to look out for loggerhead turtles being washed up on beaches due to warm southerly winds. Loggerhead Kevin Flannery has asked anyone who finds one of the animals to immediately contact a vet as they need to be kept hydrated. His plea comes following the death of a loggerhead turtle at Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium last night that had been washed up on a beach at Carnsore Point in Co Wexford. Loggerhead turtles originate in the Gulf of Mexico and can live for up to 100 years. Mr Flannery said this was the third found in recent days.
