Victim Suppport’s workload doubles in one year

An increase in awareness of the work of victim support has been attributed to a doubling in the workload of the Kerry branches in the last year. Regional Manager with the organisation Sallyanne Hanlon says the cases they’re dealing with range from theft to burglary to domestic issues. Since January, Killarney has handled 90 referrals and Tralee 124, twice the number for the corresponding period in 2003. Sallyanne Hanlon says they are getting more co-operation than ever from the Kerry Gardai.
