Valentia Observatory has had its wettest December since opening 76 years ago according to Met Éireann. Rainfall levels in December in Kerry were at least 80 per cent more than in 2014. According to Met Eireann by December 22nd over 245 millimetres of rainfall was recorded at Valentia Observatory. That’s compared to 135 millimetres in the same month in 2014. The rainfall has led to severe flooding in parts of Tralee, Glenflesk, Killarney and Kenmare. While December was the wettest month of 2015 in Kerry, April was the driest with just 54 milimetres of rainfall.
