The addition of up to 17 beds for Dingle and Kenmare Community Hospitals has been announced by the HSE. HSE management is preparing to open an additional 8 residential beds in the West Kerry community hospital and between 6 to 9 beds in Kenmare Community Hospital. The HSE is working with the Health Information Quality Authority to successfully complete the required registration process for the additional beds. Management is also meeting with staff and their representative bodies to agree appropriate staffing levels and rosters for the additional beds. It’s hoped the beds will be open by early 2016. The announcement has been welcomed by Deputies Michael Healy Rae, Brendan Griffin and Tin Fleming and Senator Mark Daly.
