Union warns that pay claims need to be at centre of government talks

CPSU Civil Public and Services Union The leader of the largest union for civil servants has warned that pay claims need to be at the centre of negotiations on the formation of a new government. The General Secretary of the Civil and Public Services Union has warned that Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil would have to consider more than the future of Irish Water. The union’s conference in Killarney has heard calls for the improvement in pay and conditions for recent entrants to the civil service – many of whom earn up to 7,000 euro less than longer-serving colleagues, despite doing the same jobs.
