Two Kerry 1916 leaders to be commemorated today

1916 wreath and podiumTwo Kerrymen, who were prominent leaders in the Easter Rising of 1916, will be commemorated in Kerry today. At 2pm today, a commemoration of the role of Tomas Aghas will be held at his birth place of Kinard, Lispole. The West Kerry native was the last Commandant to surrender to the British after the Easter Rising. Risteard Mac Eoin, one of the organisers of the commemoration, says there are a number of events taking place. [audio_player src=””] Meanwhile, there will be a commemoration of the life of Michael Joseph O’Rahilly in Ballylongford, including the unveiling of a bust in the local church grounds at 5.30pm.
