Staff at IT, Tralee have voted in favour of strike action over a range of issues, including funding and staffing cuts. The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI), which represents 4,000 lecturing and research staff, says that in the absence of “meaningful negotiations, strike action before the general election is inevitable”. The ballot nationally, was 92pc in favour of industrial action, on a turnout of 56pc of members. The TUI has 174 members at IT, Tralee. The TUI executive will consider the next step at a meeting in the New Year.
