TUI lecturers in IT Tralee among 4000 striking today

Lecturers at the country’s Institutes of Technology say they ‘exhausted every reasonable avenue’ before embarking on today’s strike. TUI ITT protest 4-thousand lecturers are engaged in industrial action in a row over cutbacks and staffing levels, including members of the TUI in IT Tralee. They claim since 2008 the number of students has increased by nearly 22-thousand, while the number of lecturing positions has decreased by 550. Gerry Quinn is President of the TUI – he says going out on strike was a last resort: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/52266/medium/”]
