FAS is to carry out a skills analysis on the workers who are to lose their jobs following the announcement that Transmould in Killarney will close next year. Over 70 people are employed at the facility which was brought to the town by the IDA 15 years ago. Discussions are also now to take place over the future of the building which is owned by Transmould. The news of the job losses came on Monday when it also emerged that 16 jobs would go at Scott Tools which closes its doors in November. Mary Buckley is IDA representative in The South. She says they’ll be attempting to secure replacement jobs for Killarney by marketing the assets they already have.
