Tralee Town Council is considering moving The County Museum out of the Ashe Hall paving the way for The Council to move into the landmark building on Denny Street. An alternative site has not yet been identified for the museum. The Council is facing an accommodation crisis in its present building on Princes Street and a number of options have been put forward. The Ashe hall is in need of repair work and whether the council moves there or not money must be invested in the building. In addition management pointed out that the museum is going to need considerable reinvestment if it is to meet the criteria set down for regional museums. The option of building at The Council`s current location is also being examined. A discussion document has been prepared for the members and further talks are to take place on the possibility of relocating.
