Preparations are underway to ring in the new year in the Kerry capital with a dazzling display of fireworks. Organisers of the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee, say the planned fireworks display, due to take place on Denny Street at 7 this evening, will go ahead as planned despite the inclement weather of recent days. There will be temporary road closures in Denny Street until after the display at 7, and again from 11pm until after midnight, to facilitate the ringing of the Countdown Clock. Meanwhile, Dingle Harbour Master Nigel Collins has reviewed weather conditions and has approved tonight’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dingle town. A firework display organised by the Dingle Business Chamber, sponsored by local business takes place at 10pm at the Marina. The Dingle Fife & Drum Band lead a midnight march around the town, a tradition which has taken place in Dingle for over a hundred years.
